Rio Staff Wish List 2018

Hello Rio Resources!

PTSA tries to fulfill as many Staff Requests as possible with money raised from the Duck Derby, Senior Showcase and PTSA membership and donations. We have fulfilled a lot of wonderful resources that go on to benefit your students like funding for electronics, clubs, books, and math, science, and art departments as well as field trips for our ILS program. We try to fulfill as many requests as possible, but we can’t fund them all.

We realized this year that many requests were for small, every day use items. In order to fulfill larger requests that would normally go unfulfilled we decided to see if our parent community would step up to purchase items under $100 needed by our Rio staff to help do their jobs.

The response for the Staff Wish List has been one of excitement! As one teacher said at the thought of our Ask And You Shall Receive efforts, “I feel like a kid at Christmas!”

Please consider adding our Rio staff to your Christmas shopping list in the spirit of giving! If you’d like to help spread the holiday cheer go to our Link to adopt a staff member:

After rolling out this gift drive in Sunday’s Rio Newsflash, there are only 11 staff members left who need to be adopted! Let’s make sure every staff member gets their wish!

When possible, we asked for a direct link to make the shopping even easier! Just copy and paste website links to help you find the specific item(s) on their list.

Please have gifts bought online mailed to: 4540 American River Dr., Sacramento 95864 with the name of the Rio staff member on the delivery.

Or you can drop gifts off at the Main Office into the Staff Wish List Box. Please make sure staff name is on it!

Gifts will be distributed every Friday up to Christmas Break.

If you would like to make a larger purchase to help a staff member in need, please contact Kelli Wheeler at We have a few staff whose wish is over $100 (like a book case and a new or used ipad).

Thank you for your generosity and support in making sure #GreatThingsAreHappeningAtRio!

The 23rd Annual Howe Avenue School Toy Drive

Hi! This is Lauren Calcagno, a senior at Rio Americano High School.  I am a 4-year Varsity Track and Field and Cross Country athlete and am also part of Civitas. After my summer internship at the American River Parkway Foundation (ARPF), for my senior community advocacy project I wanted to help promote the beautiful parkway, encourage people to volunteer, and raise money to help the Foundation achieve its goals through a 5K run/walk: the Parkway Fun Run for Everyone!

The fun run will start at Rio Americano High School and take place ‪on December 8th, at 9 a.m‬.  Please help support the ARPF by singing up for my fun run using this link:

If you can’t make it to the race but would still like to support this cause, please consider making a donation using the link below. I appreciate any help you can provide.  Please contact me at  if you have any questions.  Thank you in advance for your generosity and support!
