Duck Derby: How Can I Help?

  • Sponsorship. Thanks to our marque sponosr Quick Quack Car Wash and major sponsors The Niello Company, Caltronics, Jason Borg Attorney at Law, and Wunschel Bros., Inc (so far), prize money has been covered for the Duck Derby! But we’d like to see more Rio supporters on the backs of our 2016 Duck Derby T-shirts! If you’re interested in sponsorship or if you know someone who would be see here. Please contact Kelli Wheeler at to confirm sponsorship by MARCH 24 or turn in completed form and check to Rio front office ATTN Duck Derby/Rio PTSA.
  • Adopt Raffle Ducks! We will be selling raffle ducks starting at Open House Wednesday, April 5. Students will also bring home 2017 Duck Derby order forms Friday, April 7. Ducks are $10. Students will be competing to win $1,000 for their class as well as individual prizes for selling the most ducks (or just turning in order form/money). You can also adopt ducks online April 7 through April 27 from the Rio webiste or The goal is to sell all 3,000 ducks for a $30,000 profit benefitting Rio school pride and spirit projects, events, and programs like PAYING $4,000 FOR CLASS OF 2016 BUSSES FOR SAFE AND SOBER GRAD NIGHT when they ran out of money (2017 Seniors – you will too! So sell those ducks to win the easy $1,000 for your class!).
  • Spread the world to adopt ducks! Remind people to adopt ducks. Send friends and family the link to adopt ducks starting April 7. Have people at work adopt ducks. Have local businesses adopt ducks (and if their duck wins a prize they can donate it back to the Rio class of their choice!). And like the CA Lottery – you can’t win if you don’t play! Two $500 prizes and 25 $100 prizes up for grabs!
  • Gift cards. We still need $5-10 gift cards (i.e. Chipotle, Starbucks, Crazy for Yogurt, Jamba, iTunes, etc) or money to buy gift cards from Rio SCRIPP for raffle prizes for turned in order forms and top sellers.
