Rio Wreaths is Back!

It’s our Fall FUNdraiser with easy online ordering! With every fresh from the Pacific Northwest holiday evergreen you buy up to 40% goes back to supporting Rio students and staff, beautification, and more! Don’t need another wreath? We’ll donate your purchase for the doors of residents at Sunrise Assisted Living Facility of Carmichael to be delivered by Rio students (click here and here for news coverage from last year’s delivery.)

Please join Rio parents, alumni, and community supporters at this fun, casual auction fundraiser. There are hundreds of amazing items up for auction including stays at homes in Tahoe, Mendocino, and Europe, plus VIP tickets to Dancing With the Stars! Proceeds benefit all Rio sports programs.Come and be a part of the inaugural year that everyone will be talking about. You won’t want to miss out on the great food from Don Quioxte, fabulous dessert auction, games, and fun music from Steve Buzzard.Buy your tickets today — $50 per person (you will be responsible for purchasing a parking pass when you arrive). Wear your favorite team jersey and bring your best cornhole partner!

Chaperones and Donations Needed
The first annual Rio Halloween Dance is happening on Sat.10/29. They need 5 more parent chaperones in order to hold the dance.Couples encouraged! If you’d like to chaperone please reply with Halloween Dance Chaperone in subject.They also need donations of:

  • wrapped candy (20 bags)
  • small bottled water (10 cases)
  • Halloween decorations

Please reply with Halloween Dance in subject and bring any donations to Room C10 between now and 10/28. (Can be ordered and delivered through Safeway!)

Friday Fall Festival
The first Friday Festival of the year isFriday, Oct 28 at lunch! We need 20 dozens of holiday cupcakes (nut-free) to give out to students wearing costumes or Rio gear. If you would like to donate please reply with Cupcakes in subject and drop off at Room C10 on 10/27 & 10/29. (Sam’s Club has best bulk value.)
We Choose Rio Student Club Donations Needed
The We Choose Rio Club (WCRC), a student school pride and spirit club, is looking for donations of the following items:
large cardboard boxes
individually wrapped granola bars
cases of water

These items are going to be used for our Raiders Swag Boxes for Rio’s athletic programs. Please drop donations at Attendance office (Attn: WCRC) or they can be dropped off at 4101 Puente Way. Last Reminders and Requests!

  • Civitas is having their International Dinner on October 21st. The dinner topic is refugees and the crisis in the Middle East and Europe. Jessica Allen, of the Civitas Charity Committee is looking for donations for Care Packages. For more info on how to get donations to Jessica, what they’re looking for or the International Dinner, please contact Jessica at jessica@allensite.com
  • Payton Norgaard, a Rio Junior, is looking for donations for Music for Memories a group that helps Alzheimer’s patients through music. She is looking for donations of old iPods, headphones, iTunes gift cards or money to buy these items. If you’d like to help Payton please email her at krnorgaard@mac.com
  • RIO BAND has 2 big events coming up! Playathon At The Movies – Sunday, October 30th @ noon at Esquire IMAX with proceeds benefitting Rio Band’s Playathon.  And the36th Annual Rio Playathon – Wild West — is Friday, November 4th featuring 17 hours of music and fun from 7am-12am!   • Thank you to Christy Thomas, Rio teacher and alumnus, who has stepped up to help organize the Alumni Database. PTSA is looking for 4 more people for a Data Entry Nightso we can start reaching out to our Rio Alumni. Please reply with Data Entry Night in subject if you’d like to help.
  • Thank you to Tom Nelson for securing RioAmericano.org and linking it to our Rio Americano website for easy navigation!
  • Thank you to teacher Joyce Dibble for adding plants to the Fern Grotto in front of the counseling office and to the counseling TA’s for watering our little landscaping project!
  • VOTE YES ON P to see continued improvements at Rio Americano! Rio is one of the first schools to be slated for long overdue upgrades if the bond passes with the potential to see $60 million in campus and athletic facility improvements!
