More news from GOOD THINGS ARE HAPPENING AT RIO:
What: Please support the 4th Annual Teens for Teens Yard Sale benefitting Wind Youth Services (for homeless teens) by dropping off donations and/or attending event
When: Saturday, July 16 8am-2pm
Where: 930 Entrada Rd., Sacramento 95864
Why: The Teens for Teens yard sale was started as a community service project to benefit Wind Youth Services by J.R.Palmer and a group of his Arden Park friends that were starting their freshman year in 2013 at Rio Americano HS. Wind Youth is a non profit organization that provides services, food and shelter for homeless teens in the Sacramento area. J.R. and his colleagues have continued the project every summer, with it growing in size each year. They are now entering their senior year in high school at Rio, graduating next spring. They gather donations of quality merchandise from the community. Included is furniture, clothing, toys, electronics, sporting goods, books, etc and price it to sell in a giant one day yard sale. There is a huge amount of merchandise, spread across the front yards of 3 homes. “Crazy For Yogurt” also comes out and sets up a stand and shares a portion of their proceeds with Wind Youth. Last year they were able to generate $4670 for Wind Youth. The total over the past 3 years is over $8000. They hope to eclipse what they accomplished last year and be able to deliver Wind Youth a check for $5000 this summer. This is the last year that J.R. Palmer and the original group of organizers will be putting it on, they hope to pass the baton down to a younger group of high school students/siblings that will carry on the project.
Please contact J.R at 916-485-3675 or firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any items you’d like to donate. Drop off is fine, a pick up can be arranged.
