OneRio Monthly Meetings Have Moved to 2nd Wednesday of the Month

In effort to consolodate meetings and resources OneRio will lead the PTSA meetings held at 7pm in the Rio Library on the second Wednesday of each month (except for April when Open House conflicts). Please make the following changes to your calendar so you can join us on the frontlines of progress!

Another sign that our Rio pride and spirit campaigns are having an impact:
We are up 49 students from last year’s enrollment — the biggest jump in area high schools.

February 11- students in grades 9, 10, and 11 will be pulled from their P.E. and/or English classes to attend an introductory assembly on Restorative Justice and Peer Courts, a student empowerment and engagement program we are implementing this year.  Please contact Mr. Marenco (george.marenco@sanjuan.edu) should you have any questions.

Parent Volunteers Needed for the Restorative Justice/Peer Courts Program

Members of the Restorative Justice Team will be attending a district sponsored Restorative Justice workshop on February 24 from 8:00-3:00 at the Citrus Heights Community Center.  They are looking for a few parents to join the team and attend this training session.  If you are interested, please contact George Marenco (george.marenco@sanjuan.edu)

A Smorgasbord of FYI
  • Duck Derby volunteer positions still available (Treasurer most importantly). Please visit Duck Derby Job Descriptions to see how you’d like to help with our biggest FUNdraiser.
  • CHIPOTLE NIGHT is Thursday, Feb. 11 from 4-8pm @ the El Camino/Walmart shopping center. Since the students can’t sell food on campus anymore these off-campus food events are how the students make money for school pride and spirit events and Chipotle gives 50% of sales! Please show your support and give Mom a night off from cooking! (Must mention Rio at counter or online)
  • Did you know Rio Girls JV basketball is 21-2? And that they’re playing Friday, 2/5 at 5:30pm in the Big Gym? And while you’re there supporting our Lady Raiders, why not come for the freshmen at 4pm, buy some snacks at the snack bar, and stay for Varsity at 7pm?
  • SJUSD’s Race for the Stars is Sunday, April 24 at Rio.Rio will receive $10 from every adult entry fee and $5 from every student or child entry fee. (School name must be provided during registration for a donation to be given to the school.) Let’s show everyone our Rio pride and spirit and come out in force for this fun, festive event with T-shirts, awards, give-aways and more (including “free money” for Rio for entering!
