OneRio: From idea to execution

2nd Annual Rio Duck Derby April 1-22 Last year’s innaugural Duck Derby was a successful FUNdraiser with over$1700 in cash prizes awarded, the Freshman class earning $1,000 for most ducks sold, and proceeds supporting school pride and spirit projects including the Koi Pond ground mural in the quad, updated logo signage for the front of school, Rio spirit gear, Friday Festivals, and more! As we gear up for the 2016 Rio Duck Derby, we’re looking for volunteers to help make this year’s event even more successful! The committment is small — this FUNdraiser was designed to work smarter not harder. Chaperones Needed for Gala Gala is Saturday, March 12, 8-11pmand Student Government is looking for volunteers to help chaperone the dance. Dads, couples, welcome! You can do a shift or all night. Volunteers will do coat check, water sales, and dance floor circulation. Please emailOneRioAmericano@gmail.com w/Gala Chaperone if you’d like to help. FRIDAY FESTIVAL 1/29 @ LUNCH OneRio will be helping Student Government unveil Rio’s new mascot at this month’s Friday Festival! The new mascot will arrive in a limo with the Rio Band and cheerleaders manning the red carpet. Please stay tuned for an Action Item for food donations for this event. PTSA has approved purchasing Rio spirit shirts for the entire Rio Americano staff! Each of the 120 hard working staff members from custodial to kitchen to administration and teachers will be receiving a Tech-T with the Rio Varsity Logo to wear on Fridays, spirit days, school events, or whenever they choose! Just another reason #WeChooseRio! The logo folding chairs for the large gym are in and look fantastic! Come check out Rio girls and boys basketball or wrestling to see our athletes, visiting athletes, and coaches supported (literally) by another school pride and spirit project! We are still looking for a sponsor business for the back of the chairs to offset costs or we can put a family name on the back for a $75 sponsorship per chair.
